2015 Holiday Getaway

3:32 PM

Last Sunday of the year. It was well spent. I, together with my family and relatives—cousins, aunties and uncles, went to Estaca Bay Gardens and Conference Resort in Compostela, Cebu.

It was a sort of post- Christmas celebration and a pre- New Year activity—whichever is more appropriate, you decide. LOL. Anyway, for today, I’ll be doing a place review and I’ll be showing some pictures of our holiday getaway.

The view when you enter the place.

A close- up / side view shot of the cottages, visible as you enter the resort.

Upon entering.

Ate Gwen, Kuya Carson, KC and Atasha on their way to the resort.

Finally some sunshine on a cloudy day. (Urgh! Photobombers.)

Palm trees everywhere, eh?

They have a groto in their garden.

So many people in the beach, yeah?

The beach's view from our cottage.

Such big waves greeted us yesterday. And big crowd, I tell ya.

This is the conference/ events room.

I love the stone details, don't you?

Random people enjoying the weather.

It's boys VS girls! Volleyball-- the day's highlight! (On the pic: my sisters, brothers, and my cousins.)

It's not just a game. It's business. They're serious. LOL. (action shot)

The Reception Area.

Mykuh paying our pool's entrance fee.

The Swimming Pool. Ideal for kids. (5 Feet Only)

This shot includes the guardians at the left side of the pic.

The Slide. It's too short, don't you think?

(L-R: Atasha, Ate Gwen, KC and cousin Jarold.) Enjoying the pool. Yey!

(L-R: Baby Kendra, Ate Gwen, Ate Rica and Baby Atasha.) Exchange kids. Lol.

(L-R: Jarold, KC, Princess and Mykuh.) Smile kiddos!

Now prepared to swim.

He really insists on getting this pic. Okay. Here you go.

Even though it's cold, hala, you pose. lol

Holidays be like.
Some Important Info:

Entrance Fee: 50php – Adults/ 25php - Kids (For Holidays and weekends)
Swimming Pool: 100php- Adults/ 75php- Kids
Tables: from 150php up
Karaoke: 750php for 6 hours
Cottages: from 275php (ideal for 10 guests) up to 1320php (for 50 guests)

*Note: Their rates are subject to change without prior notice. (Prices from their website)

What’s good?
  • Cheap entrance fee so if you want to swim without minding the cost, it’s a great beach for you;
  • Big place, ideal for team buildings, barkada outing and reunions and/or gatherings (not to mention, volleyball!);
  • The crew and staff are welcoming and friendly;
  • A good swimming pool for kids—the Life Guard is very hands-on since the place is just small, so you’re sure of your children’s safety; and
  • There is no corkage fee for the food and drinks so yeah, you’re good to go.

What’s not-so-good (and definitely needs some improvement)?
  • The sand is brown and the beach is not crystal clear (it’s brownish as a reflection of the sand, that’s why);
  • Not a picture-perfect spot or the “photoshoot”- ideal place (based on my own analysis);
  • The Grilling Area is small so you may need to wait longer than expected to get your food done;
  • The cottage is big but a bit dirty, since the paint tear off. They may wanna check on that;
  • The Rest Rooms! Geez. Dirty, messy, smelly plus no water! Urgh. They should have someone who constantly monitors the cubicles so that cleanliness will be maintained. I strongly suggest they check on their Rest Rooms cause what I experienced was horrible. (Really sorry to say this but it’s true.)

Overall Rating: 7/10

Would I want to go back? Hmm. Maybe. Personally, not really.

Would I encourage you to go there? That depends on the things you’re looking for in a beach. Well, if you’re looking for a beach resort wherein you can have a team building for a cheap price, then I’d recommend this place. If, on the other hand, you want to go to a resort and take pictures for your Instagram of for pictorials, then this is not the place for you.

It was a nice Sunday, after all.

So, what do you think? Will you consider visiting the place? By the way, for more information about Estaca, you can visit this website or their Facebook page.

Happy holidays and I wish you all a very prosperous New Year!

With warm hugs and big kisses,
Jong J

  4. It looks so nice, shame that it didn't hold up to your expectations. Dirty, messy restrooms are an absolute NO-GO! But the pics are beautiful and it looks like you spent a great time. Happy new year, Joanna.
